About the Role

Our client are a state government organisation based in East Perth. They are currently seeking a Project Finance Business Partner to come in and work with them on a 6 month temp contract with strong potential for extension.

Candidates for this role will possess:

  • Experience in a Project Accounting role or similar
  • Experience in project budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial analysis
  • Possession of tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance or Accounting that provides eligibility for membership to CA, CPA or IPA
  • Substantial knowledge, understanding and experience in working with Financial Management systems in large organisations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Planning & Forecasting: Partner with the Project Finance Manager to develop accurate monthly accruals and rolling forecasts, ensuring the project management team has a clear financial roadmap.
  • Project Budgeting & Costing: Collaborate with Project Managers to build robust budgets for new and existing initiatives, providing the necessary financial structure for project success.
  • Financial Modeling & System Integration: Build and maintain complex cost formation models, ensuring seamless integration between financial forecasts and existing organisational systems.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the primary bridge between Project Management and the broader Finance/Business Support teams to maintain the integrity of cost reporting and data reliability.
  • Variance Analysis & Investigation: Proactively monitor financial performance by investigating discrepancies between actuals and budgets, identifying root causes for any variances.
  • Strategic Financial Advisory: Deliver proactive, specialist advice to stakeholders and Directorate leadership regarding the overall financial health and risks of the project portfolio.
  • Process Optimization & Problem Solving: Apply advanced analytical techniques to resolve financial bottlenecks and continuously improve the accuracy and efficiency of project financial reporting.

About You

You will be an experienced Project Finance Business Partner with proven experience and reliability in previous roles.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Experience in a Project Accounting role or similar
  • Experience in project budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial analysis
  • Possession of tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance or Accounting that provides eligibility for membership to CA, CPA or IPA
